Bobby Kalivitis/Bouzouki & Baglama

Bobby Kalivitis was born in San Jose, CA and lived there until he was 4, when his family moved to Greece.  Bobby was raised in Gythio where he picked up his first Bouzouki at the age of 10.  Upon returning to the United States in 1991, Bobby continued to play the Bouzouki, and it was in 1998, that he co-founded  our group known today as "Mythos".  His ambition and determination is what has made him into one of the finest Bouzouki players in the Bay Area.

 

 

Sylvia Kalivitis/Lead Vocals

 

Sylvia Kalivitis is the original Lead Singer for Mythos Band.  She was born and raised in Los Gatos, CA where she began music studies at a very early age.  Beginning with singing ever since she could remember, to piano at the age of 7, and on to violin at 9, she decided that singing is where her heart is. Spending nearly every summer in Greece and being exposed to Greek Music all her life, she is now dedicated solely to expanding her repertoire and pursuing a life long dream.

 

 

 William Kouvaris/Guitar & Vocals

 

Will Kouvaris was born in San Luis Obispo and raised in San Jose, CA. He grew up in a family that enjoys listening to music of all types.  From early on, his family taught him that music and dancing were an important part of life.  When Will and Bobby co-founded Mythos in 1998, Will was the band’s original drummer.  Will has also been playing the guitar since he was 15, and in 2001, began playing guitar for Mythos.  Will enjoys contributing his rhythmical ideas to Mythos’ music, especially as music has become such a great part of his life.

 

 

Vassili Petrakis/Bass Guitar & Vocals

 

 

From an early age, Vassili was involved in many aspects of music ranging from chorus, percussion, to various stringed instruments. He was born in Jerusalem, where he grew up until the age of 18 when he moved to the USA. He studied at Washington University and graduated with a masters degree in electrical engineering, and moved to California where he joined the St. Nicholas Choir, amongst other musical groups. Vassili brought his many musical talents to Mythos in the summer of 2000.

 

 

 

 

Costas Karkalemis/Percussion

 

Costas Karkalemis joined Mythos Band in the summer of 2001.  With over 30 years experience, Costa's drumming skills add real authenticity to the sound of our group.  He has played with some of the "old greats", big names such as: "Sporos", Kostas Kaplanis, Tzoanakos, and many others.  Costa was born in Alexandria, Egypt where he played in the Cairo symphony Orchestra, but has spent most of his life here in the United States.  He plays many instruments, and has a deep passion for music all around.

 

 

Evan Veloudis/Keyboards & Doumbeleki

 

Evan is originaly from the Greek island of Tinos, but was raised in Athens, Greece.  He started playing piano at the age of 9, focusing on classical music as well as jazz/blues. His repertoire later expanded to Greek traditional island songs. At the age of 18 he moved to Seattle, earning a Physics BS, then in 2003 moved to San Jose to begin his graduate studies.  He has performed at a number of venues in Greece as well as the US, including Porta Greek Taverna in Seattle (2001-2003), O’Mythos restaurant and Minerva in San Francisco (2003-2005) and Athens West in Dublin (2005-2006).  He joined Mythos Band in 2005. He currently performs at Mezes restaurant in San Francisco.
